Vikings suspend OC Wes Phillips 3 weeks for December arrest

The Minnesota Vikings have made a decision regarding offensive coordinator Wes Phillips. ESPN’s Kevin Seifert reported on Tuesday that they have suspended him for three weeks starting on April 2nd and concluding on April 22nd.

Phillips was initially arrested on suspicion of drunk driving ahead of their week 14 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. He ended up coaching against the Raiders and the rest of the season. In February, Phillips pled guilty to a lesser charge of careless driving.

The timing of the suspension is in interesting to say the least, as it doesn’t come when games are being played. It is however still without pay. Phillips will return the week of the NFL Draft.
