Atlanta Falcons 2024 NFL Draft target brings more questions than answers

ESPN’s Matt Miller, Jordan Reid and Field Yates collaborated to outline the latest buzz, rumors and names to know heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. One of the exercises was identifying the prospect that is the hardest to rank three weeks before the draft.

While Miller and Reid addressed potential questions on the offense, Yates brought forth some questions about one particular defensive prospect.

Yates chose UCLA EDGE rusher Laiatu Latu based on his injury concerns that led to him medically retiring in 2021. Out of the top three edge rushers (Alabama’s Dallas Turner & Florida State’s Jared Verse being the other two), Latu seems to be the most ready-made to make an immediate impact in their rookie season.

Latu’s arsenal of pass-rush moves and technical approach to getting past offensive linemen make him the safest choice of the three rushers at the top. He uses his hands very well and has a nice bend to get around the edge to the quarterback.

There’s no doubt that Latu showed that he could be an immediate contributor to a defense if given the chance and deserves top-ten consideration based on his performance on the field. However, if teams like Atlanta see those medical concerns and decide not to take a chance, they have two other high-ceiling options in Turner and Verse to choose from.
