4 teams the Colts could trade down with in 2024 NFL Draft

The Indianapolis Colts are among the teams who may be looking to trade down from their pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

With seven selections on tap for the Colts, it wouldn’t be a surprise if general manager Chris Ballard wanted to move down in order to add more selections to build around young quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Holding some crucial real estate at No. 15 overall, it’s likely the Colts would need one of the top quarterbacks to fall if they are pining to move down.

Here’s a quick look at four teams the Colts could trade with during the 2024 NFL Draft:

Los Angeles Rams | No. 19 overall

This would entail the Colts moving back four spots with the potential to add an extra Day 2 pick in the process. The Rams are running it back with Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were trying to move up, especially after the retirement of Aaron Donald. Finding his replacement is the top priority, regardless of how difficult that will be.

Philadelphia Eagles | No. 22 overall

There is a strong history of trades and deals between Ballard and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. If the Eagles are feeling the need to move up in order to build up their defense, there’s potential for a deal to get done here. The issue might be that both the Colts and Eagles have massive needs at the cornerback position.

Minnesota Vikings | No. 23 overall

It might be more likely that the Vikings are trying to move into the top five after adding an extra first-rounder in a trade with the Houston Texans earlier this offseason. They signed Sam Darnold in free agency, but the rumor mill is swirling with the notion that they’re eyeing one of the top quarterbacks. However, if they fail to move up, they may have a fallback plan in trading with the Colts at No. 15.

Buffalo Bills | No. 28 overall

This one gets a bit tricky because the Colts would, in theory, be helping out one of their prime competitors in the AFC. At the same time, the expectation is that the Bills would be moving up for a wide receiver after the Stefon Diggs trade, which also is a position the Colts are likely to be targeting early in the draft. However, the Colts could get an incredible haul moving back this far, which might be enticing enough for Ballard to move back.
