Denver vs. Boston University live score, updates, highlights from 2024 Frozen Four hockey semifinals

College hockey has reached its final stage — the 2024 Frozen Four.

Four of the nation’s best teams face off on Thursday, April 11, in the first step to crowning the next NCAA hockey champion. The action starts with No. 2 Boston University vs. No. 3 Denver.

The Denver Pioneers (30-9-3) are the most recent national champion remaining in the Frozen Four, having won the title in 2022. A 2024 championship would be the program’s 10th overall, the most in college hockey history.

Boston University (28-9-2), winners of five NCAA championships, also has a storied program. The Terriers are looking for their first title since 2009. They’re led by Macklin Celebrini, a freshman Hobey Baker finalist.

Celebrini has 64 points, which is tied for second most in the country. The Terriers’ freshman forward also has the second-most goals with 32. He leads the nation’s fourth-best scoring offense, averaging 4.15 goals per game.

Lane Hutson, a sophomore defender and Hobey Baker Finalist, also plays a large role in the scoring. He’s second on the team with 49 points (15 points and 34 assists).

The Terriers have a strong defense, ranking as the No. 9 team in terms of average goals against. Denver, however, has just the 26th-best defense.

The Pioneers do, however, have the nation’s best offense, averaging 4.71 goals per game. Jack Devine leads with 56 points, but it’s a well-constructed offense that features multiple threats, including Massimo Rizzo and defender Zeev Buium. All three are Hobey Baker finalists.
