Julian Blackmon contract details: Colts S gets $3.19M guaranteed

Indianapolis Colts safety Julian Blackmon officially signed his one-year deal returning to the team, and now we have the details of that contract.

Though it took a bit longer than expected, the Colts and Blackmon finally got the reunion done. That was even after he visited the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers during NFL free agency.

Julian Blackmon contract details

Blackmon and the Colts agreed to a one-year deal worth $3.7 million. The 25-year-old safety will get $3.19 million guaranteed, which includes a $1.865 million signing bonus. Blackmon also will receive $30,000 in per-game roster bonuses, totaling $510,000.

Blackmon’s base salary for the 2024 season comes in at $1.325 million and his total cap number comes in at $3.89 million. That accounts for 1.5% of the team’s salary cap in 2024. He also can earn $250,000 in bonuses that were deemed “likely to be earned.”

Blackmon will return to his role as the strong safety with Nick Cross and Rodney Thomas II battling it out on the free safety side.

The former third-round pick had a career year in 2023, recording career-high marks in tackles (88), solo tackles (55), tackles for loss (five), interceptions (four) and passes defensed (eight).

According to Pro Football Focus, Blackmon also thrived in coverage. He allowed a 70.5% reception rate and a 57.5 passer rating on 44 targets.
