5 things Denver Broncos fans may not know about Bo Nix

Bo Nix is a member of the Denver Broncos and after being formally introduced on Friday, fans were given their first look at what he looks like holding the team’s new jersey while answering several questions.

Now, we take a closer look at the new quarterback of the future. What else is there to know about Nix?

1. Bo Nix started more games than any quarterback in college football history

With 61 career starts between Auburn and Oregon, Nix started 61 career games, which is more than any quarterback in NCAA history. Many pundits see that as a knock on Nix, but it gives him the kind of experience that Sean Payton likely covets.

2. Bo Nix is already 24 years old

While he is experienced, he is also on the older side, which can definitely be seen as a negative. To put things into perspective, Zach Wilson, who is about to enter his fourth season in the NFL, is only about 6 months older than Nix.

Nix had a long college career and he is getting to the pros later than most, but the Broncos will have to hope he makes the most of the time that he has in Denver.

3. Bo Nix was coached by his father until college

Born in Arkansas, Bo played for his father in high school. They moved to Alabama and he starred as a high school player, becoming “Mr. Football” in that state in 2018. He committed to Auburn after being ranked as the top dual-threat quarterback in his class.

Patrick Nix, Bo’s father, was also a quarterback at Auburn from 1992-95.

4. Bo Nix is married to Izzy Smoke

Nix and Izzy Smoke, a former Auburn cheerleader, were married in 2022. She is from Alabama and the two met at Auburn University. They announced their engagement in July 2021. If you’d care to know more about Izzy, this article on People does a good job.

5. Bo Nix finished 3rd in 2023 Heisman Trophy Race

OK, this one, you probably knew, but it’s still a cool factoid. Nix finished third in Heisman Trophy voting last year and at one time, was potentially the favorite to win it. Nix finished with 885 points behind only Michael Penix Jr. and the eventual winner, Jayden Daniels.
