Grading the Minnesota Vikings selection of Oklahoma OL Walter Rouse at No. 177

The Minnesota Vikings made their selection in the sixth round by selecting Oklahoma offensive lineman Walter Rouse.

A left tackle at Stanford before transferring to Oklahoma, Rouse played the same spot and thrived for the Sooners in Jeff Lebby’s offense. He didn’t allow a single sack in the 2023 season on nearly 500 pass blocking snaps. He he possesses really good explosive jumps and 35″ arms but his quickness isn’t very good, which is the likely reason why he is available in round six.

Now, the Vikings needed to add some depth on the offensive line after losing Oli Udoh to free agency to the New Orleans Saints. He can play swing tackle long term along with kicking inside to guard, which will make a difference with the Vikings depth.

Grade: B+
