Hilarious angle shows Jon Stewart stunned by Tyrese Maxey’s season-saving three

Tyrese Maxey saved the Philadelphia 76ers’ season, and nobody could believe it.

With the 76ers trailing by three and just 15.8 seconds remaining in Game 5 on Tuesday, Maxey went the length of the court and drained a game-tying three-pointer from 34 feet out.

The incredible shot came just moments after Maxey had completed a four-point play that cut Knicks’ six-point lead to two. Josh Hart hit one of two free throws after to set up Maxey’s heroic shot.

The Sixers went on to win, 112-106, in overtime, moving the series to a 3-2 Knicks lead.

While Knicks players themselves might have been shocked after letting a potential series win escape, comedian and passionate Knicks fan Jon Stewart was equally aghast. TNT cameras caught Stewart along the sideline, looking stunned just moments after Maxey’s game-tying three.

Stewart is a frequent guest at Madison Square Garden and was surely feeling the pain of so many Knicks fans on Tuesday.

Stewart himself even weighed in on X/Twitter, using the screenshot and writing, “Respect to Maxey…but damn…I’m clearly getting too old for this shit…”

Of course, the Sixers’ narrow Game 5 victory was almost the inverse of the Knicks’ Game 2 victory. In that game, the Knicks scored eight points in the final 40 seconds to win the game. On Tuesday, the Sixers scored six points in 34 seconds to force overtime.
