New Las Vegas Raiders WR Jalen Guyton to wear a very familiar number

The Las Vegas Raiders made yet another important addition to their wide receivers room on Monday, with the team signing veteran wideout Jalen Guyton.

After not taking a single wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Raiders have inked some undrafted free agents, but Guyton is the second notable veteran addition the team has made in free agency, along with Michael Gallup.

Guyton will now compete for a roster spot and the No. 3 role in the receivers room behind Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, with Gallup and Tre Tucker being his stiffest competition.

It didn’t take long for Guyton to pick his number, as the North Texas product is going to wear No. 4, according to the Raiders’ team website. Raiders fans are very familiar with that digit.

Not only was it worn by quarterback Aidan O’Connell (O’Connell has since changed to No. 12, his college number), it was also donned by none other than former Las Vegas signal-caller, Derek Carr, who wore it during all nine seasons he spent with the team.

Assuming he makes the roster, Guyton will be the sixth player in Raiders history to play a regular season game in the No. 4. Carr, O’Connell and kickers Fred Steinfort and David Hardy and punter Jerry DePoyster are the others.
