Indianapolis Colts begin OTAs: Workout dates, what to expect

The Indianapolis Colts and seven other teams across the NFL are set to begin organized team activities (OTA) on Tuesday.

This is the first time the entire team will be together for these offseason workouts following the NFL Draft and even though participation is voluntary, we should expect the majority of players to show up.

While the Colts are among the eight teams starting OTAs Tuesday, there were 21 teams who started Monday. The Cincinnati Bengals begin OTAs on May 28.

As OTAs begin for the Colts in 2024, here’s a quick look at what to expect:

What to expect from Colts OTAs

This is the first time the team can practice on the field together with helmets. Live contact is prohibited, but this is the first time the Colts can run 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 team drills.

OTAs begin Phase 3 of the offseason workout program, which lasts four weeks. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team activities. According to the NFL media policy, “clubs must open to the local media at least one of every three Organized Team Activity (OTA) days.”

OTAs will give us a glimpse of what the depth chart looks like as well as the progress of injured players and the incoming rookies.

Following OTAs, the Colts will hold mandatory minicamp for three days June 4-6 before breaking for summer.
