Mavericks vs. Timberwolves Game 5 odds, predictions, best prop bet picks for NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals

The Timberwolves were able to force a Game 5 thanks to a solid second-half showing in the last contest. Tonight, they are back in Minnesota looking to hold off defeat a little longer. In Game 4, the Wolves held the Mavs to just 100 points on 42% shooting from the field. They’ll look to build on that momentum in yet another win-or-go-home contest with a trip to the Finals on the line.

No team has ever come back to win from down 3-0, but a few have forced a Game 7. Although history hasn’t been made in that way, the longer the series continues, the worse off Dallas will be, especially with Boston loading up on rest waiting for the winner. However, all but one of the games have come down to a possession or two, so it’s not wise to count the Timberwolves out of it just yet.

Fourth quarter scoring has been an Achilles heel for Minnesota in this series, but they may have figured it out, setting up another thrilling contest for fans to wager on. Here are the latest NBA betting odds for Mavericks vs. Timberwolves at top-rated sportsbooks:

Dallas Mavericks betting news and analysis

Either Kyrie Irving or Luka Doncic had started slowly in each of the four games. Fortunately for Dallas, one or both have also been able to heat up in the third or fourth quarters. Their late success has been the key to their demanding 3-1 lead to this point. However, as good as they are, their slow starts should be a concern.

They have shown the ability consistently to get hot late in games, but it is not always a guarantee, especially against a premier defense like Minnesota’s. Game 4 was a prime example. Neither were able to flip the switch like they had in the previous game, finishing the contest shooting a combined 13-for-39 from the field. Although just one game, both are streaky shooters and scorers.

The performance could be an anomaly, or it could be a sign of things to come in game 5, and possibly beyond.

Minnesota Timberwolves betting news and analysis

Minnesota’s second-half struggles have easily cost them at least two games. Through four games, they have been outscored 214-199 in the second half. The one game they outscored the Mavs in the second half was Game 4, the one contest they won. In the fourth quarter of the last game, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards combined for 16 points.

Towns scored 10 of his 25 in the fourth, and Edwards scored six of his 29 in the same period. As a team, they also prevented the Mavs’ stars from erupting and stealing yet another game. Taking a must-win game on the road in that manner may be huge for their confidence, especially the stars, who have failed to play up to their standard to this point.

If Minnesota’s key players can build on that momentum, Dallas could be in for a longer than ideal battle.

Mavs vs. Timberwolves prediction ATS

Despite Doncic and Irving’s great play for most of this series, the Timberwolves have been in every game. Dallas’ backcourt is likely to come out blazing looking to put the series away, but being at home and now believing they can win in clutch time should be enough for Minnesota to pull off a close one tonight. However, we expect it to be closer than the spread suggests.

Prediction: Mavericks
