92 days until kickoff: Every Minnesota Vikings player to wear 92

The Minnesota Vikings are entering their own version of the Final Countdown.

The 2024 season is upon us and the excitement is palpable. As we get through the offseason, everyone wants to see quarterback J.J. McCarthy in a Vikings uniform. It will signal a new era in Vikings football for many reasons.

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell are entering their third seasons in control of the Vikings and it’s crunch time. They now have the team shaped in their image and it’s going to be pivotal for their future to be successful in the next two seasons.

With 93 days until kickoff, here’s a look at every player to wear No. 93 with the Vikings (via Pro Football Reference):

DE James Lynch 2020-2024

The Vikings drafted Lynch in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was a stalwart player as a rotational lineman with 37 games played and three starts. He tore his ACL during a night training camp practice and missed the entire 2023 season.

DT Jaylyn Holmes 2018-2020

Holmes was a fourth-round pick of the Vikings in 2018 after they traded down a couple of times in the in the third round. He lasted just three years with the Vikings, playing in 25 games while starting in nine.

DT Tom Johnson 2014-2017

Johnson was a revelation for the Vikings as a rotational player, but wasn’t quite as effective once he had to step in for Sharrif Floyd when he had his knee surgery botched. He ended his Vikings career with 20.5 of his 25.5 sacks.

DE George Johnson 2012

Johnson had an up-and-down career having played in five seasons across seven years. His time with the Vikings was short-lived, as he played in just two games during the 2012 season.

DT Remi Ayodele 2011

Ayodele was in the NFL for five seasons with his final one being with the Vikings in 2011. He started 13 of the 16 games he played in and registered just 1.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

DE Jayme Mitchell 2006-2010

Mitchell was an undrafted free agent who ended up playing in 29 games for the Vikings between 2006 and 2010. He registered 5.0 of his 6.5 sacks during his tenure in Minnesota.

DT Winfield Garrett 2001

Garrett played in just 12 games in his short NFL career but put up some decent stats in 2001. He started two games while registering 2.0 sacks and 3.0 tackles for loss.

DE Roy Barker 1992-1995, 2000

Barker was a fourth-round pick of the Vikings in the 1992 NFL Draft. He played in 56 games with the Vikings over his first four seasons and registered 12.5 sacks. He returned for his final season in 2000 but played in just four games without registering a stat.

DE Fernando Smith 2000

Smith was a second-round pick of the Vikings in the 1994 NFL Draft and played a total of five seasons for the Vikings. He only wore the number 92 when he was in the final year of his career in 2000 where he registered just two tackles.

DE Duane Clemons 1996-1999

Clemons was a first-round pick of the Vikings in 1996 and was a relatively good player. He had 18.5 of his 49.5 sacks in his first four seasons. He would play three years in both Kansas City and Cincinnati before retiring after the 2005 season.

DE Kelly Quinn 1987

Quinn was a replacement player in the 1987 season for the Vikings. He played in three games with two starts.
