Dodgers P Yoshinobu Yamamoto picked good day for best career start

The Dodgers needed a strong outing from Yoshinobu Yamamoto against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium on Friday. Yamamoto delivered in the biggest possible way.

Los Angeles’ rookie hurler tossed 7.0 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. It was the longest scoreless outing of Yamamoto’s career. His previous long was 6.0 innings on May 1 vs. the Diamondbacks.

Over his last two starts Yamamoto has pitched 13.0 innings, allowing one run on nine hits with just three walks and 14 strikeouts.

There couldn’t have been a better time for Yamamoto to have the best start of his career. While he was dealing, so was the Yankees pitching staff. That group through 8.0 innings tossed a shutout on only three hits.

Friday night in the Bronx had a postseason feel, and Yamamoto shined under the brightest lights of the season so far.
