Red Sox to use recently recalled RHP as opener vs. White Sox on Sunday

After the Boston Red Sox were defeated by the Chicago White Sox 6-1 on Saturday, the two teams will meet for the series finale Sunday at Guaranteed Rate Field.

For the matchup, Boston will send Zack Kelly to the mound while Chicago will counter with Chris Flexen.

Here’s what Alex Cora’s lineup will look for Game 4:

  4. Dominic Smith 1B

Kelly has been great for the Red Sox this season, posting a 2.00 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP in his 13 appearances out of the bullpen. This will be his first start of his career. He’s never allowed a hit to any White Sox.

Flexen hasn’t been the best for the White Sox in 2024, as he’s carrying a 5.19 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP in his 13 outings (11 starts). Only one active member of Boston’s lineup has ever recorded a hit off of him – Duran (1-for-1).
