Italy vs. Albania Euro 2024 time, live stream, TV channel, lineups for Group B match

Italy start their European Championship title defence on June 15 as they take on Albania in Group B of Euro 2024.

Luciano Spalletti’s team have been placed in a tough group with old rivals Spain and Croatia taking up the other two spots.

After securing an incredible penalty shootout win against England in the final of Euro 2020 three years ago, the Azzurri only just edged over the line in qualification, with Albania through to their second European Championship after being eliminated in the group stages in 2016.

Italy are not amongst the favourites this time around and they face a real battle to secure a knockout-stage spot against the experience of Spain and Croatia.

Italy vs Albania lineups & team news

Former Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti made some bold calls in his Euro 2024 squad selection and the current team is strikingly different to the won that secured the Euro 2020 title.

Defensive duo Francesco Acerbi and Giorgio Scalvini were both ruled out through injury — after being initially called up — but veteran Jorginho will start in midfield with the threat of Federico Chiesa and Gianluca Scamacca in attack.

Italy projected starting lineup (3-4-1-2): Donnarumma (GK) — Darmian, Buongiorno, Bastoni — Di Lorenzo, Cristante, Jorginho, Dimarco — Frattesi, Chiesa — Scamacca.

Former Arsenal defender Sylvinho has led Albania to just their second major tournament and his squad is speckled with stars playing in Europe’s top leagues. Experienced defenders Elseid Hysaj and Berat Djimsiti play their club football at Lazio and Atalanta respectively with Chelsea striker Armando Broja leading the attack after a loan spell at Fulham in 2024.

Italy vs Albania prediction

  • Score prediction: Italy 1-0 Albania

Italy struggled in qualification, with just four wins from eight, including two against Malta as they narrowly secured automatic progress based on their head-to-head record with Ukraine.

Albania also only picked up four qualifying wins, but they topped Group E, ahead of Czechia and Poland, to book their spot at Euro 2024.

This contest could be a tight battle for Italy, but they need a positive result to take into vital games against Spain and Croatia in the race for the Round of 16.
